Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know about Annyeong — the fan-made platform that helps BTS ARMY find and meet other ARMY nearby.

The basics

What is Annyeong?

Annyeong is a social platform for BTS ARMY — a place to discover ARMY near you, say 안녕, and actually meet. The internet made us ARMY. Annyeong makes us meet.

Is this a dating app?

No. Annyeong is about friendship and fandom — concert buddies, travel buddies, local ARMY, people to go to events with. There's no swiping, no matching percentage, no "likes."

What does "annyeong" mean?

안녕 is Korean for "hey." It's the first word you say to someone new — and the only thing you send to start a connection here.

Is Annyeong affiliated with BTS, BIGHIT MUSIC, or HYBE?

No. Annyeong is an independent platform made by fans, for fans. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to BTS, BIGHIT MUSIC, or HYBE.

How much does it cost?

Annyeong is free. There's an optional Annyeong Plus membership for extra features like Travel Mode — but discovering, connecting, and chatting never sit behind a paywall.

Launch & waitlist

When does Annyeong launch?

Annyeong launches on 11 September 2026. Everyone on the waitlist gets an email the moment it's live.

On which devices will Annyeong be available?

iPhone (App Store) and Android (Google Play), plus the web at app.annyeong.io.

How do I join the waitlist?

Enter your name, email and country at annyeong.io — it takes ten seconds. You also get a personal invite link to share with your ARMY friends.

I joined the waitlist but got no email — what now?

Welcome emails are sent gradually, and Gmail in particular can take a while. Check your spam or promotions folder. You are on the list even if the email arrives later — when Annyeong launches, you will hear from us.

Joining

Who can join?

Anyone who's ARMY and 18 or older. Registration opens worldwide on 11 September 2026 — no invite needed. Until then, join the waitlist and we'll email you the moment it's live.

How do I sign up?

From launch day: enter your email at app.annyeong.io and we'll send you a sign-in link. You create your account and set up your profile on the web, then download the app — that's where the real experience lives.

Do I need a password?

No. Annyeong uses email sign-in links instead of passwords. If you want extra protection, you can add a passkey in settings.

Do I have to use my real name?

No. You choose a username; your first name is optional and hidden by default. You decide if and when to show it.

Do I need a profile photo?

A photo is optional when you sign up — but you won't appear in Discover or be able to send 안녕 until you have an approved photo. Every photo is reviewed before it goes live, so Discover stays real faces, not blank avatars.

Connecting

How do connections work?

See someone in Discover, send them 안녕. That's it — one tap, no opening message to agonize over. If they say 안녕 back, you're connected and a private chat opens. No mutual interest, no chat.

Can someone message me out of nowhere?

No. Nobody can chat with you until you've both said 안녕. There are no unsolicited messages on Annyeong.

What happens if someone doesn't 안녕 back?

Nothing dramatic. They're never notified of a decline, and neither are you. Things just quietly stay as they were.

Is there a limit to how many 안녕 I can send?

Yes — 10 per day. It keeps every 안녕 meaningful.

What is ARMY Verified?

A badge you earn by passing our BTS knowledge quiz. It's a fun way to show you're the real deal — it's optional and doesn't limit what you can do.

Privacy & location

Can people see my exact location?

Never. Others only ever see your home city area and a distance range like "within 50 km" — never a precise distance, never a map pin, never your address.

What is Travel Mode?

An Annyeong Plus feature. Going to a concert in another city? Set your destination and appear in Discover there before you arrive — with a ✈️ badge so local ARMY know you're visiting. Your home location stays untouched and your travel dates stay private.

Who can see my age or birthday?

Nobody. Your date of birth is private and used only to confirm you're 18+. It never appears on your profile.

Can I control what's on my profile?

Yes. Bio, bias, interests, gender, social links — almost everything is optional, and visibility toggles are off by default where it matters.

Safety

What safety tools are there?

You can block or report anyone, from anywhere in the app. Blocking is immediate and invisible — the other person is never told. For meeting in person, Annyeong includes Meet Safely guidance, a Share Plan feature to loop in a friend, and an optional check-in reminder. Our Community Guidelines and Child Safety Standards apply to everyone.

Are there fake profiles or bots?

No. Annyeong has no fake users, no seeded activity, no inflated numbers. What you see is real ARMY.

Events

What are Events?

Curated BTS-related happenings — concerts, cup sleeve events, meetups, screenings. Mark yourself as going, see who else from your connections is going, and go together. Don't just go. Go together.

Your account

Can I delete my account?

Yes, anytime — from the app or the web. Your profile disappears immediately, and after a 7-day grace period everything is permanently deleted. Changed your mind within those 7 days? Sign in again and restore it. See also our account deletion page and Privacy Policy.

What languages does Annyeong support?

English, and Spanish at launch, with more to come.
